Dear Members and Friends,                                                    July 14, 2020

As you all probably have heard, State and county health officials have requested that many of the recently opened public enterprises, including churches, close their doors again to stem the new spike in coronavirus infections. Of course, that includes us, The Christian Community in Fair Oaks. Woe, is us! A sad moment, when the hope was that things were improving and we might soon be able to move to fuller participation and wider activities.

It was such a wonderful moment, following a two months hiatus, when the congregation was first allowed back at the end of May, at Whitsun; we were only together for the Act of Consecration, of course, and in greatly reduced numbers and requiring reservations (thank you, Cynthia Hoven). No one knows how long these new health restrictions will last.  We will continue the daily celebration of the Act of Consecration.

Now is a time for a renewed spiritual effort on all of our parts, actively seeking to realize the living presence of Christ within us. You might consider accompanying us during the 9:00 A.M. celebration of the sacrament from your home. It can be a wonderful practice to find a place in your abode to create an “altar,” with a  tablecloth, an image of Christ, a crystal, a candle, small vase with a flower(s). And then everyday (at 9:00 A.M. for instance) light the candle, quiet yourself, read the Gospel Reading for the week, ponder it, perhaps read something from the Three Years by Emil Bock. Read the Creed and then speak the Lord’s Prayer, followed by a moment of reverent, still, openness.

Below is a copy of the Gospel Reading List for 2019-20 and the Creed.

We would be happy to bring communion to you in your homes. Please let us know.

Warm greetings,

Luis Gonzalez     Sanford Miller

The Christian Community – Movement for Religious Renewal

seeks to open the path to the living, healing presence of Christ in the age of the free individual. This intention finds its ultimate expression in the renewed Seven Sacraments, where the thoughtful, heartfelt devotion of the congregation and the words and gestures of the celebrating priest work together to form the vessel that can receive the grace of God.
