OBERUFER SHEPHERD’S PLAY
This play comes from late 16th Century, found on an island in the Danube, still being performed in the 19th Century. This is a delightful Nativity Play with playful, fun scenes with the shepherds. Great family event, wonderful singing!
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 23, 11:45 A.M.
Preparing the chapel for Christmas
Please, stay after the morning Act of Consecration and help with the transformation of the chapel!
The holy Christmas celebration is of extraordinary significance for the word-body of our sacraments and begins with
THE THREEFOLD CELEBRATION OF THE ACT OF CONSECRATION OF MAN
I Midnight, 12:00 A.M.
II Dawn, 7:30 A.M
III Day, 10:30 A.M.
which can be experienced as one event, but each has a distinct opening prayer (epistle) and mood, and during which the whole of the Gospel sounds. We are reminded of the Holy Trinity, the three-in-one, the one-in-three.
10:00 A.M. – THE CHRISTMAS CHILDREN’S SERVICE
This beautiful, poetic service is heard but once a year in which the profound mystery of Christmas is offered to our children as a gift.
The Act of Consecration of Man will be celebrated daily during the Holy Nights at 9:00 A.M., except on Sundays which will be at the normal time, 10:30 A.M.
Holy Nights Study: Gospel of Luke
Every day following the service, we will gather in the community room, sing, light the Christmas tree and read in Luke’s Gospel, converse and finish by 11:00 A.M.
